Water, food, and oxygen are the building blocks of our physical existence. When combined, these three elements form the essence of life. Regardless of our knowledge of human biology, we all recognise this fundamental truth. Expanding on this, we can assert that our bodies require optimal food, water, and quality air to maintain good health. When we lack these essentials, such as when we're dehydrated, malnourished, or oxygen-deprived, our bodies suffer and become susceptible to illnesses.
Rest and movement, two seemingly opposing forces, are equally vital for our well-being. Our bodies have a delicate balance, a yin and yang. We need movement to stress the body enough to maintain resilience, but this must be balanced with adequate rest through sleep to allow the body to repair and recuperate. This balance is not just important; it's crucial for our physical health, and we all inherently understand this, as we always feel better when physically active and with a good night's sleep.
Social connection is not just a nice-to-have; it's a fundamental aspect of being human. As a tribal species, we evolved to require the presence of other human beings. All the physical factors may be in place, but we can still become ill if we are isolated from our community. This is because isolation triggers stress, making our minds aware that survival will be more challenging. Our community acts as a buffer, reducing our stress levels and contributing to our overall well-being.
Our planet, but more so our solar system, provides life-giving light and gives us a rest from it every night. A yin and yang situation repeated. Sunlight provides energy for bodily processes to occur and queues rhythms that dictate when hormones are released and when we need to be alert. Darkness triggers other processes essential to rest and recovery, helping to regenerate our brains to function another day.
The way that Fugen Health uses the skills of nutritional medicine and naturopathy is to come from a holistic framework. Realising that you are unique and your lifestyle is exceptional, you are still human. Your body and mind have fundamental needs to be met to achieve optimal health. Through a thorough consultation process that evaluates your diet, sleep habits, activity levels, light/dark exposure, social health and stress management, we aim to provide the best recommendations that suit your circumstances to get you to optimal health and go beyond disease-free.
Initial consultations last one hour. It is advantageous to bring past blood tests, scans, and health assessment reports. You will receive a personalised treatment plan that includes dietary and lifestyle advice and a supplement protocol (if applicable). Follow-up appointments are 45 minutes, during which we analyse progress, adjust the protocol, and add additional interventions. If appropriate, functional testing such as stool analysis, blood, salivary or urine tests will be used to refine approaches further and evaluate progress.
